Genoa, Capital of Peace: Over 50 International Endorsements for “Kick War Away”
Institutions, religious leaders and international representatives gather in Genoa for a day dedicated to sports, dialogue and cooperation among peoples.
Genoa strengthens its role as a symbol of dialogue and international cooperation, hosting on Sunday, 28 December 2025, the second edition of the event “Kick War Away – Un Calcio alla Guerra.”
The initiative was officially presented in the Representation Hall of Palazzo Tursi, in the presence of local institutions, religious communities and civil society organizations engaged in promoting peace.
The event is organized by the European Muslims League (EML) under the High Patronage of the World Organization of States – International Parliament for Safety and Peace (WOS-IPSP), an intergovernmental body active worldwide in promoting peace, security and cooperation among nations, with the support of the Municipality of Genoa and the Region of Liguria.
The press conference was moderated by Giorgio Primicerio and featured speeches by Silvia Salis, Mayor of Genoa; Amb. Alfredo Maiolese, President of the European Muslims League and Ambassador-at-Large of the WOS-IPSP; Don Gianfranco Calabrese, Episcopal Vicar for Interreligious Dialogue of the Archdiocese of Genoa; and Matteo Campora, Regional Councillor.
The Chief Rabbi of the Jewish Community of Genoa, Giuseppe Momigliano, sent a message of support that was read during the presentation.
The sports event will take place at the ASD Praese stadium, involving youth teams and representative squads, with symbolic matches dedicated to the message of peaceful coexistence and unity among peoples.
The 2025 edition stands out for its strong international dimension, with over fifty official endorsements and participations from Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia—highlighting the global relevance of the initiative.
In the afternoon, a symbolic match will be held between representatives of institutions, civil society and religious communities.
At 5:30 PM, the official award ceremony will take place at the Teatro del Ponente in Voltri, with the expected attendance of Dr. Arnaldo Gadola, Chief of the Press Office of the WOS-IPSP, International Parliament, renowned worldwide for holding 14 university degrees, ranking him second among the most highly educated individuals globally.
The program will also feature a performance by tenor Davide Pastorino, who will offer his voice in support of the peace message promoted by “Kick War Away – Un Calcio alla Guerra.”
The day will conclude with a multicultural convivial gathering.
“Kick War Away – Un Calcio alla Guerra” thus confirms itself not only as a sports event, but as a concrete platform of diplomacy, dialogue and international cooperation, further affirming Genoa as a city of peace and a meeting point between cultures and peoples.
